Tips for Shopping Shein

A question I've seen a lot of lately on social media is about the online store, Shein. Is it legit? Has anyone had any bad experiences? What is the quality of their clothes, etc. I've actually been buying from Shein for years now so I kind of consider myself an expert (haha). They've come a long way since I discovered them and I hardly ever have any issues with their products, but that is because I know what red flags to look for!

You honestly cannot beat the prices on this site and it's amazing when you order a super trendy product from them and it fits perfectly on delivery! I've also purchased jewelry and accessories from them and have been extremely satisfied with everything I've received, especially my hair clips that I literally wear daily. Here are some of the tricks I use to navigate the site and details I ALWAYS look at before purchasing:

1. ALWAYS look at reviews and pictures from other purchasers.

This is my number one tip. Other verified buyers are going to tell you if the fit is good, if it's too loose, too small (usually runs small because they're based in Asia), itchy material, etc. Look at the pictures and decide if it's going to look good on your body type! If there aren't any reviews for the product yet, you can always risk it, but I would recommend finding something similar on the site with actual reviews.

2. Utilize the search feature.

This website is HUGE, ya'll. If you're looking for a black dress there are going to be over a thousand to search through and ain't nobody got time for that! If you want a red midi dress with lace detail, search that exactly and I guarantee results.

3. Read the product description.

I can't tell you how many times I'm about to buy a shirt on this site but get turned off by no-stretch or bad material. I'm a mom, I need my clothes to be as soft and stretchy as possible! Always look at composition, fabric, and fit type to decide if the piece you're looking at is going to be something you'll wear. I personally avoid products with no stretch, but that might work for you so always check!

A few things to consider:

1. They ship from Asia, so shipping can take a while, but it's super cheap and if you spend enough sometimes it's even free!

2. The jewelry is not real metal, so you get what you pay for. I love my hair clips from Shein and they are still in great condition, but the earrings hurt my ears after a while and some of my gold necklaces turned a funky color. But if you're looking for a piece to complete a look or just wear a handful of times, $3 is definitely worth it!

3. You have the option to use Paypal as a payment method, so if you're concerned about identity theft or credit card fraud you don't have to worry.

Overall, I understand how first-time shoppers can be a little wary of Shein. It's so cheap, how is this real? But if you can be a smart buyer, you can totally get super trendy looks from this site without breaking the bank. Hope this helped some of you out if you've been on the fence about Shein! If you've had a good or bad experience I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
